World Jump Day

World Jump Day

if enough people Jump at once in the western hemisphere
600mil. to be exact. we should be able to reduce global warming
extend daylight hours. and create a more homogenous climate

I have my doubts, Newtons second law states that
"For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction."
thus the earth would pull it self back into is old position when we would land.
I doubt that there would be a measureable direction change from a small shake. even if our orbit is as large as it is.

well 5 days until christmas

3 days until we fly,

and I have a really bad cold.
if it wasn't for the dayquil, I wouldn't have gone to work today.

I am thinking about carrying it in a brown paperbag at work
taking swigs when no one is looking.
have you ever wondered why at Christmas you eat turkey vs shepherds pie?

One problem solved.

There has been a mystery that I had been needing to solve.

So I finally found a solution that will benifit others!

I have the answer to one one the worlds small annoying problems!

How to make leftover macaroni (KD) taste as good as fresh!!.

Cause leftover KD has the consistancy of playdoh with less salt,
and since michelle has the little daycare running here there has been an
abundance of leftover kd in the fridge when I get home.

Well when I am hungry it's a dispointment with every bite.
Don't get me wrong, I like KD when made right,
but it turns into a bad mush once microwaved.

Yes, I have tried the salad dressing route. Ranch, ceaser, balsamic, all of them.
It just tastes like salad dressing after. Not creamy cheesy, way too strong.

Well now the answer you have been waiting for.........SourCream!!.
mmmmm creamy cheesey once again!!!.
Without adding actual cheese( just like KD I know)!!!

anyone want a cat?

I think I am getting more allergic to cats.

I know I have always been. but it's one of the allergies you get used to.
you can actually adapt to individual cats. and I have to many cats.

well it's been getting harder to breath over the past few months.
especially since the windows have been closed.
I am fine after about an hour to an 1/2 hr away from home, too.

I took an anti-histamine after I got home cause it was getting particularly bad.
I got better. now I am getting itchy eyes, sneezy, and now runny nose, and getting hard to breath.

I am going to get an allergy test. or at least speak to a doctor soon.
I guess I should make an appointment.....

I won't give up the cat just yet, I will await results first.
I have 2 girls here whom just love cats.

I am having trouble breathing, I think I will have the window open tonight.

songs payton likes

Payton is starting to sing along and dance to a few songs.

bedouin soundclash - when the night feels my song
Our Lady Peace - Angels losing sleep.
white stripes - my doorbell

if it has a good bass beat or good rhythm Payton starts to dance.
during the Bedouin soundclash she likes the sing the long notes..
they will stretch out the words Song, Soul and Home.
and payton will sing along quite accurately for length and timing.
but she sings oooOOOOOHHHHhhhhh.

I think I will test her tomorrow one what different songs she likes.

we went to my sister's today and she was singing and dancing there.
it's usually a home thing, but she couldn't resist the Bedouin soundclash.
she went right up to the speakers and sang along.

my sister doesn't get to see her much and payton hammed her up.
even blowing Kisses goodbye

I have been wondering what to post lately.
should I post about me/my life currently.
ideas I have..

family photos..

I have been using tysey's blog to benchmark my posting.
as long as I post more than tysey(sorry tysey but you didn't post much)
I am doing ok.

I have a major problem with focusing. I am able to do so much but end up doing so little.

I am trying to get the sermons + some songs from church up on the website(churches), but I haven't done much with the recordings. I have built quite some archive now. there are some noise issues but we are working on that.

see I managed to get distracted after 2 sentences...

wireless, the next boom?

well the next big thing is always in question. but it is looking to be wireless computer networking.
a lot of people are using wireless in their homes to hookup their computers to the internet without running wires. Well this is easy as hell to breakin. most people do not secure their wireless
all you have to do is stop outfront logon, and check your email or whatever.
it's easy I do it.
and if you have a program like netstumbler. it will count them all and log them and their details
and if you have a GPS well, it will map them too. what fun!!!
in mission we have found sofar over 400.

my friend Rob and I have joined a group in BC setting up a Huge interlocked network(meshed network) that will encompass a large amount of BC. thats the Idea anyways. www.bcwireless.net.
not providing internet to anyone, but providing a community with the infrastructure that you could access your home network(computer(s),) and home internet, from anywhere. This community network could have community web pages setup, bulletin board saying what's going on around town, when groups are meeting, city counsel meetings, whatever. The possibilities are quite huge.

but the infrastructure is not there yet. lots. and I do mean lots of people already have all the equipment needed to create this network. but it is just getting started. all you need is an old computer and a wireless card(wireless access point(router)).

some citys in the states already are establishing these type networks. portland, Philadelphia, new orleans, and others. some are commercial pay per use.

here is a news article about some of the citys doing such.

wireless fun

it's called warcaching, you drive around looking for open wifi from peoples homes.
well on the way home from work(surrey) I found 171 wireless accesspoints.
60 of which were secured.
which means I have a high probablity of using 111 other peoples internet.
without them knowing.

I found a software called netstumbler which constantly checks for wireless networks and
lists them and also asociates them with an attached GPS, so it will log the found wifi and where you found it.

another great job.

I was reading this news artical

and they were injecting human stem cells into mice with broken spinal cords.

and after 4 months, the mice could walk again.

now this has been done before, but no one was sure if the stemcells were the fix
or did they just start the healing process.

well they figuared out a well to tell.
inject the mice with a special toxin that only kill human cells.

well after that the mice couldn't walk anymore. the cells were indeed human cells.

hmm to have a job where you break the backs of mice, fix them, and then take it all away....

where do people find jobs like these, anyways?

greedy anoying people.

well I have turned on my "word verification" on.
it will look something like this. random words/letter will be required to post a comment.
so if some spammers are using a program to submit spam, they will be required to type word manualy. thus being very time comsuming. and they will just move on to the next blog.

I had one spammer try to sell geneticly modified trees. hardwood cedar at that.

finally I can blame my lack of attention span on ....

too much TV.

scienctists are finding that the more you use your brain the less likely you develop Alzheimer's.

"One of the most extensive and widely cited investigations on the subject, the landmark Nun Study, tracked 100 Milwaukee nuns who had written autobiographies in the 1930s. More than 50 years later, scientists gave them cognitive tests and examined the brain tissue of nuns who died. Those who demonstrated lower linguistic ability in the autobiographies were at greater risk for Alzheimer's disease."

sorry for adding another bodypart to exercise to the list.

we found 2 baby rabbits. one huddled by the dumpster, the other huddled by the bay door.

there is construction going on very close so the field they may have lived could have been disturbed.

so I put them in a box and brought them inside. a guy at work used to raise rabbits said they looked about 2 weeks, mabey less. he took them home. and said they may still need nursing.

they were smaller than the palm of my hand and looked very simular to this pic.

not so extended weekend.

well my weekend went from a 4 day weekend to a 1 day weekend. I worked on Sunday(the week before) so I was suposted to have Friday off. woohoo 4 day weekend. Well the new guy didn't show up and therefore no afternoon shift for me to run(you need a min of 2 people working to run machinery legally). Friday I was supposed to get off early, noo had to finish the prototype for a big meeting on Monday. Worked till 1030pm. Saturday go back to finish the prototype. do not leave until 730am when a sensor failed bigtime and required fixing. and that would be Sunday, 730am. and I work in surrey. therefore I slept Sunday. and missed church.

so on Monday Payton and I woke up and had breakfast I had Special K, she had cheerios. then she saw that I was not eating cheerios as well(Cause I usually do) and it was something new. well she smacked her lips and gave a big smile. well she likes Special K too (with milk). afterwards she was playing with her monkey and would not go down for her first nap(which is usually about an hour after she is gets up).(mom still sleeping). so we played with her little monkey. I swear she can say "monkey", I have heard it many times and if you say "where is the monkey?" she looks and finds it. so she knows the word. so if she says "monkey" before "dad or dada", is something wrong?jj

well you could tell she was getting tired and we were on the couch. she rested her had (ear down) on my chest and promptly fell asleep. well I couldn't move her so I took a nap too.

of course first my first thought was to say "F*bomb* you, Replace this"(and then walk off, knowing he would be in very big trouble from those promoted him).
but I held back. I am not that type. that and I love what I do for work.

and then today I find out that something that I am doing has a deadlline of like yesterday.
no one cared to tell me. and to make my prototype work within a day.

so today I changed my mood to wedgie.

robots that make robots that make robots that make......

here are some scientists that have managed to make
robots that make robots that make robots that make robots that make robots that make robots that make robots that make robots that make robots that make.....
you get the idea.

but these robots need cubelike modules equipped with microprocessors, sensors and electromagnets that selectively weaken and strengthen connections between modules.

yah like thats easy to find lying around.
also the microprocessors need a certain program and
be connected in exactly the right spot.

and these robots can't do anything else either.
in high school I made a suicidal robot. it could its own plug. and I didn't get a big news artical.

gee togo though life only to realize that your only purpose was to SELF-reproduce.
sad...

pimp my ride: powerwheels edition

well I got it all apart.
the motors are working fine.
got the wiring figuared out.
it's super simple, but I can see why they had battery trouble.

this version has an option of 2 speeds with forward and reverse.

well reverse is only low speed. but they are only using one battery for backing up.
having a battery that is used more than the other isn't a great idea..
expecialy when it comes down to one of the batterys drawing a load out of the lesser charged battery. it's kinda like charging your batterys backwards. not a great plan.

well I got an estimated ETA for michelles birthday allgirls party, and Ihave about a 1.5 hours to clean up the parts and put it all back together.

but I think I am going to have to redo all of the wiring so I can properly control control it. since I am.
I may as well add some extra features.
like analog speed control.
speed limiting( for when payton is first starting out, and bigger kids can run faster),
proper lighting, backup lights, turn signals headlights, and such.
Gauges that work, and are not sickers;

mabey over do it like underlighting, and a radio.

fake mags.. yeah..
new paint....
fake chrome...
rubber tires..

let the mods begin

since michelle is at a surprize all girls birthday party for her.
and I am at home with Payton , whom is sleeping.
what should I do, I could clean.... laundry.....
nahhh.... lets mod the jeep!!!

I so far I have bought a lawnmower battery for it. $20 new C-tire.
normally i would run it gelcell I even have some. but they wouldn't last long.
so I bought a regular Leadacid battery. for gelcells would have cost me $60, but they would have been smaller. so I bought the cheaper batterys that would Ride for longer.
but it's about an inch too tall.
so now I can forsee my first MOD cut the plastic and mabey design a holder for the battery.

right now I am not sure the wiring order for the battery since it should be two 6v gelcells. and I have one 12v. so I need to tear apart the jeep. that way I can get a good look inside to see the wiring. and test the motors.

good thing we have lots of foam and plastic at work. I can tell that I am going to need to do a bit of custom work allready.

I will publish pictures as I go, if you haven't seen my previous post about it scroll down to a couple of days ago.

Tornado

A few funnels passed about 20k below where I am. they never hit the ground.

Tornado warning!!!!

I can hear sirens!!!!

I had to phone the hotel desk, and they confirmed what I thought.

We've just got lots of hail and lightning, and the sirens are on.

Texas

currently in Texas,

Another machine showing up late.

but this time my rental car is a PTcruzer convertable.
but it is Hailing out, thundern 'n lightin' and all.
so the roof is staying up. I did have it down for lunch thou it was nice then.

I heard church was good, I had to leave after 15min, togo to the airport.lame.

don't know what else to say but I am away again.

Saturday, April 23, 2005

I bought a jeep.

at the DukeHarris Garage Sale today, I bought a "powerwheels Jeep".
it needs some fixing up. some sort of headlights and a grill. and a 12v battery.

sure Payton is a little young to drive it yet.
but this will give me time to modify it. I am thinking RC control the jeep.
it will take nothing to adapt it. except the steering, but I will think of a way to overpower a little one so the servos will not break if I take control.

and I have to think of what to do about headlights, I think some LED front and rear lights, (full functional ones too), and mabey a horn.

I guess I will be checking out ebay for a cheap RC transmitter and reciver with a decent range to it.

I can't wait to test out the motors to see how much torque they can handle, if it is too low, I may have to upgrade the motors. and give it some better tread. hehe.

the good and bad.

I am waiting on a flight from newark airport, to go back home.

I missed my schedualed flight yesterday. now I am waiting for this other flight .
that happens to be an extraplane that isn't the normal flight time out of here.

one hitch.....

they brought in 2 extra planes beacuase there is about 400 12-14 yr olds going somewhere..
I am not sure where they are ending up, but they have a layover in vegas that I can then jump on a vancouverbound plane.
so I have about a 6-7 hr flight with overexicted, overcaffinated, extreamly talkitive youths.....
think I am going to get anysleep on this flight.

I am allready having to endure the word "like", being used each sentence.

Irony

and the sign inside the store in cheap bold letters
"Everything for a DOLLAR"

I have a picture of it, but I do not have my card reader with me so I will post it later

Diet options

The current diet option i am choosing

daylight savings time

Fall Back Spring ahead.

well I remember that Fall back was the best. a whole extra hour of sleep.
and spring ahead sucked, it robbed you of an hour of sleep.

now that we have Payton, with her Bed time of 630 7ish,
and Get up at 6:30am. Spring Ahead now means an Extra hour with Payton after work.
and an extra hour sleep for 6 months!!

Thank you SPRING AHEAD.

cooking.

lately I have found that simple ingredients and few ingredients, tend to produce the best meals.
the taste seems to get cluttered otherwise.

last night I cooked gnocchi(last time I tried I failed miserably) and for the sauce.
fried garlic sausage with diced tomatoes. thats it. it may have needed a bit of salt. but it was very good otherwise.

when we were in Italy food there was simple, but excellent.
the best pizza had only only one choice, with or without cheese. and it was the best I have ever had.

cacciatore rabbit. Rabbit boiled in white wine. I can't even describe how good that was.

another night. I cooked ground beef with baslamic vinigar and a bit or garlicsalt and added diced tomatoes after. another great sauce.

beef chunks cooked the same but this time with onions and soya, sourcream added after.
excelent again.

chicken breast with Basil and oliveoil.

I think this is an example of less is more.

no only if I can apply that to all of the stuff I have.

fun with RiceKrispies

while looking for a picture of my new watch, I found this site, sushi made with RK and gummies

another test

I am such a sucker for online tests.
well this one said.....

All hail the monstrous nerd. You are by far the SUPREME NERD GOD!!!

kinda flattering isn't it.

I am nerdier than 95% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!

Rodney CopperBottom

today in my RiceKrispies cerial I got a Rodney CopperBottom Watch.

Michelle needed some rice krispies for some craft thing,
(see her blog about it if she posts about it I think it will lead to a big mess, so she probably will)

and well we had to check if there was a Robot Rodney watch.
if you still don't get it I am a Robotics engineer. ( I have had to spell out the rodbot referance before to people. rod+ robot = rodbot. I guess only if you are good at math it makes sense.)

so I opened the box as soon as I got home.

Rods "axis of things he suspects that is Evil"

I am going to start of list of all things ( that are not commonly known about)
EVIL. or at least suspiciously evil. or unintentionally evil.

so far at Number 1. on the list.
SARAN WRAP!, this product was obviously designed with evil intentions.
what else can get you more fustrated than something soo little and simple
that sticks to itself better than packing tape.(oh I think I have found another for the list).

now in no particular order.. cause I haven't thought that far yet.

Packing tape/ tape guns. self explanatory.

Automated Answering systems: self explanatory.
especially the Voice Reconition ones like at telus. Why would you want to
Anger your customers before you get to talk with them. pure EVIL I tell you.

2 part foam. as per my recent XP with it. (and now considering it is on my chest,
no I am not going to it shave off this time)

tin foil. friend submitted.

sudden shift changes. friend submitted.

single ply toilet paper. enough said.

Low flow shower heads.

bathtub taps with no Flow control.
because someone thought they were a genius to
get rid of one tap " that way it will make it easier and simpler to use".

Political correctness. to a point.. I think this just developed into something evil.
But as some people say" the road to hell was paved with good intentions."
a little stark but you get the idea.

Minivan drivers. you can own and drive one. but to be an actual "Minivan Driver"
you must be:
  • unsure of the size of your vehicle,
  • unwilling to take Right turns on red.
  • and feel the need to drive well under the speed limit in all situations.
  • and prevent all others on the road, from driving the speed limit or making right turns on red.
  • generally be afraid of everything that is or could be on a road close to you.
you can find these "minvan drivers" mostly during Rush hour.
and yes minivan drivers like to tagteam with other minivan drivers on the road. to seeing if they can be the better minvan driver out of the group.

Alarm clocks... at least the loud annoying ones.

The Idea lots of people have that "When your cell phone has poor reception, all you need to do talk louder". the person that first thought that needs to get beaten daily
he will be the first one up against the wall when the revolution comes.
hmm I think I may have another list coming.

SPAM: or stupid forwards. you know the ones. You will have good luck from God if you forward this message to all your friends. or 5 friends for a small miracle or 10 for a larger one.
bill gates has an email tracking program. All you have to do is forward this email. and a little girl gets 10bucks towards her cancer treatment. the list goes on...
. or please fill out this form and send it back if you were a real friend you would.... headgame blackmail.... ALL EVIL!!!!
I refuse to reforward.

well I am tired and am going to try to get the Foam off of my body parts....
this time without a razor.

can anyone else think of simple things that you think may be evil? just comment.

sayings

years ago a friend said to me

look back at your Life(or childhood) ask yourself, one simple question.

"Why am I not dead yet?"

my knee

it hasn't been a good week. yesterday I had a bad xp shaving part of my arm.

today I fell. landed on my knee sideways. ouch.
it hurt mostly when I try to use it, using my leg muscles.
if I move it with my hands it doesn't hurt too much.

what is it with us guys that will not go to the doctor unless they are close to dieing.
I mean like I got the shingles once. and I only went to the doctor after a few weeks,
and I couldn't walk anymore. the Doctor Laughed
and said he had never seen anyone wait that that long for meds.
nor shingles that big.(from me waiting so long).
I just thought they were strange pimples on my legs.

Just like now, I think my knee will get better tomorrow.
if I still can't bend it tomorrow, maybe I will go to the doctor.

or maybe it will be better thursday.

Razor burn

I got some foam on my arm at work. it was hard to pick off.
even with rigorous scratching.

so I had a bright idea.
you know that special kind of idea, that burns bright enough that the lightbulb above your
head, blinds you of the obvious .
so I tried to shave it.
it worked.

but apparently you can get second degree burns from a razor. I hate blisters.

Languages

I enjoy coding/programming. Yes I am a geek.
I know tons of different languages of code. but only one spoken language.
I would love to speak something else. Italian spanish greek chinese latin, something.

I have tried to learn some sign language for Payton. just keywords up, milk, bath , all done, more.
I tried to learn Italian, for when we went there on our honeymoon. all I could really understand is numbers and a few words, almost enough to haggle. and then most people spoke english there
and were excited to get the chance to practice english.(we got a free cappucino in Naples because of this).

at work there is only 4 people that don't speak more than one language. (3 from Mission ironically).

even my little sister is in french immersion. and she has started speaking french to Payton.
she says "someone has to teach her".

but then again I don't think I have the time to learn another language. I have other things to occupy my time with. I am not sure when I can even get to those.

So I guess on my "I Never" list would be
"I never learned a second language"

and I am ok with that.

yup she a girly girl

I have started noticing that payton is ( or going to be) a little princess girly gir.

I first noticed it at the mall. Her eyes were fixated on the store "Claires".
You know the one, it has glitter, gitter and more glitter, cheap jewelery and frilly things.
It is definity a little girls store.

Well this morning she found my wallet and there was a very fun toy inside,
my bankcard!

I thought this wasn't suposed to start until she was like 8 - 10.years,
not 7 months!!

does anyone have any grapes? toothpicks?

I stumbled upon these 2 sites while looking for a picture.

Fun with Grapes - A Case Study

Funny things to do with your microwave

I can't wait to get some grapes.

Please note if your children(or husbands) try this site and Damage something.
that would be sad. and not my fault this is only a novelty site . and not to be tried
in your microwave indoors. unless you have one at work that nobody uses , and you
have grapes for lunch.

I will post when I get some grapes.

embracing the light

you can reject the light
or you can embrace the light

a measure of intelligence?

If you were to measure intelligence of say an AI system. The ultimate goal would be that you could teach it to be self aware.

Descartes said,
" I think, therefore I am"

This may hold ground as a guide to intelligence.

Then if you look to the first chapter of John.

"In the Beginning was the Word. And the Word was With God and The Word was GOD."

God was aware of himself from the start. Heck there wasn't anything else there.
I mean he didn't have anything to compare to. There was no light to see, there was no air to carry sound to hear. Nothing to touch or smell, nothing but your own thoughts.
And yet he said in the Beginning
"I am"
"I exist."
" I am."

kinda powerful.
we haven't(as humans) been able to create anything that has a conscienceness. Or even conceive how something like that would work. Let alone even realize that it is a separate entity from anything else.

and God Thought "I AM"

and the new label for me is.......

I took the Dork test

and I passed it with Flying colors

I am Dork.

and this is what it said about me

"Ding ding ding! We have a winner! You're a dork. You knew that. You know a lot of random stuff actually...You probably know what a male duck is called, and no, it's not a duck. I bet you tell "I'm a big dork" stories on a fairly regular basis. You're a member of Alpha Beta Needa Data. But what makes you cool (in your own sort of way) anyway is that you take all of this with a sense of humor. You know full well there's nothing wrong with being a little strange; you wouldn't have it any other way. That's pretty respectable. Even if your socks don't really match, if you look at 'em up close. But who's going to be looking that close at your socks anyway, right? So take pride in your dorkiness. You rock."

fitting isn't it goto

sorry about the link not being clickable but the buttons are not showing up in firefox,
and I don't know why yet.... they were there yesterday....

Wanted Your DNA

I stumbled accross a site that is doing Genealogical research
using DNA.
Particularly male DNA, due to it's the only DNA that you
can be sure you got it from your father(also assuming your a Boy, of course)

so it will be cataloged in thier database and saved and Referanced to when
they find a match.

I blew up a computer power supply
there was alot of smoke, and sparks.
and didn't make a dent to the metal.
